Reposted from @keithabeauchamp Posted @withrepost • @melissaearnestofficial The woman on the left is 36 year old Katherine Harris. She was recently convicted and sentenced to 20 years in Desoto County Mississippi, for driving under the influence, which ultimately led to her hitting a sheriff’s deputy and said deputy ending up losing his leg.
The woman on the right is Carolyn Bryant Donham. In 1955 Mississippi authorities issued a warrant for her arrest on the grounds of kidnapping a 14 year old Black boy, by the name of Emmett Louis Till. After the kidnapping occurred, Carolyn’s husband and brother in law would take Emmett to a shed and beat him to a pulp. Once the beating was over, Emmett would be shot in the head, tied a gin fan with barbed wire, and dumped in the Tallahatchie River.
Sixty seven years later, the kidnapping warrant for Carolyn continues to remain unserved.
This is Mississippi- where, in the eyes of the judicial system, a deputy’s leg is more important than a Black child’s life.
