Reposted from @melissaearnestofficial Important Facts About Carolyn Bryant(Wren, Chandler) Donham That You Must Know
🔴She is NOT deceased.
🔴The night that Emmett Till was kidnapped, he was taken out to a truck and presented to a woman in a truck and she was heard identifying Emmett.
🔴There was a warrant issued for her arrest, on the grounds of kidnapping. The warrant was never served because sheriff Strider said that Carolyn had children. In June 2022, the unserved warrant was located in the basement of the Greenwood Leflore Courthouse. Mississippi does not have warrant expiration laws!!!
🔴From the time the alleged wolf whistle occurred, until she took the stand, her story changed multiple times.
🔴From the stand, she lied about what Emmett allegedly said to her and she also lied about Emmett touching her.
🔴From the stand she lied about Emmett NOT having a speech impediment. HE DID have a speech impediment and walked with a permanent limp due to contracting polio early in his childhood.
🔴It is documented, in court transcripts, during the trial, that Carolyn referred to 14 year old Emmett Till as a “n*****r man.”
🔴Emmett’s mother, Mamie Till Mobley, was not allowed to be in the courtroom when Carolyn took the stand.
🔴Justice can still be served. There is no statue of limitations here in Mississippi on murder, kidnapping, or culpable negligence!
🔴Her own former sister in law, Juanita Milam, debunked Carolyn’s story, according to FBI files
🔴 This case has been opened and closed numerous times but it is ultimately up to District Attorney Dewayne Richardson to move forward.
It has been 67 YEARS! It’s time!
➡️Please call his office and email asking that Carolyn Bryant Donham be indicted for her role in Emmett’s kidnapping and murder:

Reposted from @keithabeauchamp Posted @withrepost • @melissaearnestofficial The woman on the left is 36 year old Katherine Harris. She was recently convicted and sentenced to 20 years in Desoto County Mississippi, for driving under the influence, which ultimately led to her hitting a sheriff’s deputy and said deputy ending up losing his leg.
The woman on the right is Carolyn Bryant Donham. In 1955 Mississippi authorities issued a warrant for her arrest on the grounds of kidnapping a 14 year old Black boy, by the name of Emmett Louis Till. After the kidnapping occurred, Carolyn’s husband and brother in law would take Emmett to a shed and beat him to a pulp. Once the beating was over, Emmett would be shot in the head, tied a gin fan with barbed wire, and dumped in the Tallahatchie River.
Sixty seven years later, the kidnapping warrant for Carolyn continues to remain unserved.
This is Mississippi- where, in the eyes of the judicial system, a deputy’s leg is more important than a Black child’s life.
Please text the word EMMETT to 243725 and sign the #JusticeForEmmettTill petition today.

While Clark Atlanta University students, alumni and community enjoyed being back on campus for it’s first whole in-person homecoming experience in two years, PUMA North America made the celebration much sweeter by presenting the school with a $1 million check which will be used to help accelerate the path for HBCU students pursuing careers in the sports apparel industry.
“One of the top objectives of these partnerships is to ensure that we were able to give these students access to roles within our industry and make sure we were able to hire them,” explains Michelle Marshall, Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at PUMA.
“Just based on that criteria and that objective, we knew that Clark Atlanta was the ideal partner because of their fashion merchandizing school, and because of their school of business, which is a very well respected business school.”
This first-of-its-kind partnership will provide scholarships for over the next 5 years. helping students gain awareness and prepare them for roles within the sports apparel industry. Students will experience the world of design/merchandising and be exposed to roles in information technology, marketing, and supply chain management through customized curriculum, career prep, research projects, and internships.
“Well, I think I think another dimension to the Clark partnership is also the location here in Atlanta,” adds Adam Petrick, Chief Brand Officer at PUMA.
“We are anticipating that there are going to be a lot of other activation opportunities for us to partner with things that are happening here on the campus, but I think also in the wider city of Atlanta, for us to be able to have an impact on students that are here. Student life in this city is very important to us as a as a brand that wants to tap into culture.”

The 7th Annual BE Smart Hackathon, hosted by BLACK ENTERPRISE and American Airlines, has come to a close, showcasing a multitude of prize-winning teams representing the “best of the best” in tech among HBCUs across the country.
The three-member team from Atlanta-based Morehouse College scored first place in the hotly-contested final round. Its innovative luggage tag app giving customers ease and affordability when checking baggage, impressed the BE Smart panel of judges composed of top executives from American and DXC Technology, among other tech companies.
The second and third-place winners came from Alabama A&M — Binary Beast for its rewards app and Team Tai for its innovative enhancement of AA’s Advantage program.
Held at AA’s spectacular Dallas-based campus, the event, produced under the theme: “Homecoming 2022: All Code, No Switch,” offered a highly-competitive field of 23 teams from 19 HBCUs. There were 111 students—the largest number to compete in the hack.
In addition to American Airlines, the host sponsor for the past four years, Hyatt also invested in the event as presenting sponsor, representing its first-time involvement with the event.
“Let me acknowledge our partner American Airlines for opening this magnificent venue and, equally important, its continued investment in Black tech and commitment to creating new and expansive opportunities for the brilliant talent coming out of our nation’s HBCUs,” Earl “Butch” Graves, Jr., CEO of Black Enterprise, says of the airline that has hired 65 Hackathon participants over the past four years. “We also appreciate Hyatt for its collaboration and engagement.”
In winning the competition, each member of the Morehouse team reached 100,000 AA Advantage miles and two hotel night stays at a Hyatt hotel of the individual’s chosen designation. Moreover, Tram Morehouse will gain the coveted opportunity to present its winning concept to Hyatt’s Chief Information Officer at the company’s Chicago headquarters.
The Morehouse hackers were overwhelmed by their victory—especially given that they only had three team members while most schools had five people in each group.
Elijah Truitt , an 18-year-old computer science junior, says he and his comrades were initially shaken by losing a team member before the competition. “We came together to focus,” he says. “I learned that sometimes you have to do things [you didn’t expect] to do and that sometimes you have to accept that some things will happen that you didn’t plan.”
For example, Truitt was not the original choice to give the presentation at the final judging but stepped up to help his team score the win. Other members of the team were Kevin Drew and Trent Gaylord .
Beyond the intense 24-hour hack, students gained the opportunity to learn new, innovative approaches and make connections with some of the leading professionals in the tech space.
“This has been an amazing experience,” says Asa Rogers, who studies computer science and cybersecurity at Alabama A&M.
“I’ll be prepared to do so much more when I get back to school and during internships.”
Even with the display of proficient technical prowess, many HBCU students contend with barriers to entering the field. Challenges persist despite the 2021 Congressional Bipartisan HBCU Caucus that these institutions contribute nearly $15 billion to the US economy and produce 42% of Black engineers and 47% of Black female engineers, respectively.
At the event, Black Enterprise held the Town Hall, “HBCUs: Developing Top Tech Talent,” featuring academicians from North Carolina A&T and Jackson State University as well as senior executives from American Airlines and Hyatt to identify ways to bolster Black student retention in STEM programs; strengthening HBCU-Corporate partnerships; and parity on the recruitment and elevation of Black talent.
All agreed that such platforms as the BE Smart Hackathon would help increase the flow of the pipeline of HBCU grads into promising STEM careers.
BLACK ENTERPRISE and American Airlines expect the event to be even bigger and better next year.
“We reserve the highest praise and appreciation for our participating historically Black institutions of higher learning. It bears reflection that HBCUs are the nation’s most undervalued resource. Year after year, these schools produce leaders and game-changers in every field.”
Tomias Davis, AA’s Development Program for Technology Director and one of the driving forces behind the BE Hackathon, told the scores of competitors: “You are all winners…You all exhibit HBCU excellence.”
Here are the first and second-place Hackathon winners:

Oct 27, 2022 | Criminal Law
The accused is the defendant. The former can file a criminal case when the latter commits a felony or crime against them.
Note that in criminal cases, the aggrieved party is not the one who will be launching the action. Instead, the US attorney’s office will do this with the help of law enforcement agencies. The aggrieved party must therefore coordinate with the police.
The trial will reveal if the evidence is substantial enough to warrant the accused a guilty verdict. Penal statutes are construed strictly in the accused’s favor and against the state. This means that the interpretation beneficial to the accused wins in ambiguities.
The Difference in Proof Between Criminal, Civil, and Administrative Cases
Along with the strict interpretation of the law is the evidence required to convict a person. A preponderance of evidence and substantial evidence is enough in civil and administrative cases. However, in criminal cases, guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is necessary.
Substantial evidence is not only a “mere scintilla of evidence.” It’s evidence that falls between preponderance of evidence and probable cause. Suppose there’s a hearing for administrative cases. The judge will rule against a party if the proof is enough for “a reasonable mind to support a conclusion.”
In civil cases, the plaintiff must convince the court of the respondent’s guilt by meeting the “preponderance of evidence” standard. It is enough that the evidence could show more than a 50% chance that the claims are valid .
What does “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt” require?
The highest quantum of evidence the court would need in a case is “beyond a reasonable doubt.” Indeed, this is a higher bar to meet than other cases. The US Constitution didn’t guarantee the presumption of innocence. Yet, court decisions and statutes made this an element of a fair trial .
In the case of Taylor vs. Kentucky , the court held that the presumption of innocence is not constitutionally mandated . However, they added that the Fourth and Fifth Amendments discussed due process. The said discussion requires prosecutors to present evidence proving an accused’s guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.” This means the prosecutor must show with absolute certainty that the accused is guilty as charged.
The ratio behind this legal doctrine is simple. The law puts a high premium on one’s liberty as it does on a person’s life and property. This is why it believes it’s better to set a guilty person free than to imprison someone innocent.
Who has the burden of proof in criminal cases?
The prosecutor has the burden of proving the accused’s guilt. The penalty for criminal cases includes incarceration and payment of damages. These are situations that compromise one’s liberty and property. Thus, the accused must have a day in court to meet their accuser and prove their innocence.
It’s also fair that the party alleging the crime must be the one to present damning evidence. These pieces of evidence must be not only acceptable but also strong enough to overcome the presumption of innocence.
How can a lawyer help you in a criminal case?
A lawyer can help you with a criminal case in many ways. They can encourage the court to dismiss your charges or help you get probation instead of jail time. They can also help to get your arrest record expunged.
A lawyer also knows all the laws that apply to your situation and can use them to your advantage. They know what questions to ask the police to determine if there are any violations of your rights. This is especially helpful during the arrest process.
A criminal attorney will work hard to protect your rights and make sure that you have a fair trial. They have extensive experience in dealing with both state and federal criminal cases. This means they know how the court system works and what each type of case requires.
They work on cases involving drug possession, battery charges, domestic violence, and drunk driving charges (DUI).
When you file a criminal case, you must know how the courts work. You must keep track of all your appointments and take care of any necessary paperwork. This process is just the beginning. You need someone who knows the ins and outs of the legal system. A lawyer can help you tackle all these tasks.
Get Legal Help
When you are accused of a crime, having an experienced criminal defense lawyer on your side is beneficial. It can be the difference between being convicted and walking away with a clean record.
If you think you need to file a criminal case and need legal advice or representation, look for a credible legal firm. A legal team can help navigate the complex justice system. They can also assist you in every way possible to protect your rights and interests.

McDonald’s, the mega fast-food chain with the golden arches, seems to be on the winning side of a legal battle against Black franchisees. Last week, a federal judge in Chicago dismissed a lawsuit with 52 Black franchise owners filed against McDonald’s, claiming the fast-food chain directed the Black owners toward locations identified as low-income neighborhoods with high crime rates.
According to CNBC, McDonald’s has temporarily beat back the lawsuit by the Black franchise owners who claim the corporation ‘set them up for failure.’
The 2020 lawsuit was allegedly dismissed in a written order. Although the judge did not explain why he dropped the case, the plaintiffs were given until Oct. 21 to file an amended complaint.
The plaintiffs allegedly claim that McDonald’s proposed locations are not profitable and do not provide the Black franchisees with growth opportunities while working under the same terms as white franchise owners.
The restaurant chain is not offering successful options for the Black franchisees even with the restaurant chain’s public commitment to diversity and Black entrepreneurship. Reportedly, the plaintiffs are requesting up to $1 billion in damages.
McDonald’s has denied the claims and said franshisees make the ultimate decision on what areas they want to settle their store locations in, even though the restaurant chain does offer location recommendations.
Reuters reports that a spokesperson provided a statement regarding the lawsuit informing that the case was dismissed “because the plaintiffs had no facts to support their arguments.”
“Discrimination has no place at McDonald’s, and we remain steadfast in our dedication to taking action to attract and support franchisees who represent the diverse communities we serve,” the company said, according to the outlet.
Sources provide that lawyers for the plaintiffs did not respond to a request for comment.
