Legal Tip On Location Agreements For Films

Legal Tip On Location Agreements For Films

Locations are a very important part of filmmaking, as most independent films are not filmed in a studio, but rather are filmed at leased a location. Agreements for locations cover how long and for how much a location is leased. The location agreement also addresses “rain dates”, in case filming needs to be rescheduled or re-shoots are required as a result of unforeseen circumstances.
A location agreement will also often grant a producer the rights to use the film shot on the location for other film projects. Perhaps the most important clause in a location agreement is the one that indemnifies the owners of any damages arising out of the use of the premises for filming and further protects the owners from tort liabilities that might arise as a result of filming.
In addition, producers generally include a disclaimer in the film location agreement that all depiction of the location is fictional and such filmography does not necessarily represent a true reflection of the actual location.

National Civil Rights Museum Showcases Smithsonian Outdoor Exhibition on Revolutionary Black Men

The National Civil Rights Museum is proud to highlight the contributions of notable Black men with Men of Change: Taking it to the Streets. The outdoor exhibition from the Smithsonian will be on view in the museum’s Founders Park west of its main entrance starting Saturday, Sept.10.

Based on the SITES fine art exhibit Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth., the outdoor exhibition is free and open to the public until Dec.16, 2022. The “Taking it to the Streets” installation features multiple stand-alone and fence displays in the museum’s green space between Mulberry and South Main.

Men of Change: Taking it to the Streets presents the profiles of two dozen significant Black men across the decades. Through striking images and the poetic cadence of hip-hop language, visitors are invited to see these revolutionary men who have altered the history and culture of the country and learn from their journey. This outdoor installation highlights parallels between the past and present while telling stories of historical, cultural, political, and creative significance.

From Duke Ellington and Muhammad Ali to Kendrick Lamar and Alvin Ailey , the men of change are explored through the themes of storytellers, myth-breakers, fathering, community, imagining, catalysts, and loving. They transform professions, fight for justice, revolutionize art, and touch millions of lives. A diverse group of artists, advisors, academics, curators, and museum professionals determined the men chosen as Men of Change. The featured men represent many more individuals and the communities that shape them.

“We are excited to host Men of Change: Taking It to the Streets,” said Dr. Noelle Trent , the museum’s Director of Interpretation, Collections and Education.

“As an outdoor installation, the exhibition offers an artistic interpretation of the history of Black men in the United States in the shadow of the Lorraine Motel.”

Moving beyond the boundaries of the museum’s walls, Men of Change: Taking it to the Streets offers a spot to meet, an opportunity for dialogue, and a connection to the community. The exhibition was developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibitions Service (SITES ) and the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum. Supported by the Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Ford Motor Company, it is touring through 2022. For more information, visit civilrightsmuseum.org .

Reposted from @iamricharddunn Please join in signing the petition to change the name from the 1906 Atlanta Race Riot to 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre.

The 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre should be the accepted name for one of the most egregious acts of racial violence in Georgia history.

Calling it a “riot,” does not fully convey the brutality of an event in which at least two dozen of Atlanta’s Black residents were killed and hundreds more injured at the hands of a white mob numbering nearly 10,000.

We believe the word “massacre” more accurately describes what happened and should be used in any reference to the events of that day, from education curricula to web resources to media references.

Comedian Kevin Hart Opens His First Hart House Vegan Restaurant In Los Angeles

Comedian Kevin Hart Opens His First Hart House Vegan Restaurant In Los Angeles

Written by Derek Major

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart officially opened his first 100% plant-based fast-food restaurant, Hart House, in Westchester, California. Secret Los Angeles reports the restaurant opened on Aug. 25 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to thank the Westchester Chamber of Commerce, and 10% of receipts that day went to Inner City Arts , which provides a high-quality arts education for elementary school students in Los Angeles.

Hart House offers burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, salads, and sides, including french fries and tater tots. The fast food spot also serves drinks and milkshakes.

All Hart House food is 100% plant-based and free of preservatives, corn syrup, hormones, antibiotics, and artificial flavors and colors.

“We’ve curated delicious, craveable food you know and love like burgers, shakes, nuggets and more,” Hart House CEO Andy Hooper said in a statement.

In addition to offering good food, Hart House also takes care of its employees, providing them with living wages and top-class benefits. In addition to Hooper, Hart is working with Chef Michael Salem . The men say their overall goal is to defeat the negative connotations that come with the word “vegan.”

“Ultimately what we’re trying to accomplish is converting folks that have traditionally been carnivores and eating at other quick service fast food restaurants to come here, not because we’re vegan, but because we’re just better in terms of the flavor and the crave-ability. Now, the benefit is we happen to be vegan,” Chef Mike with Secret Los Angeles said. “And what it is, you can drink the milkshakes, you can eat the burgers, you can eat the chicken nuggets, but you got no cholesterol.”

Raised in Philadelphia, Hart has long been an advocate of health and fitness, signing an endorsement deal with Nike and constantly posting his workouts on social media. A second Hart House is expected to open in Hollywood later this year, as well as one more location in the US, which hasn’t been disclosed yet. In addition to Hart House, the comedian also opened a reading center in Harlem last month.
